Thank you for attending and supporting College Bound Dorchester's 7th annual event on June 9th, 2011 at UMASS Boston. College Bound Dorchester honored State Representative Martin Walsh, a lifelong Dorchester resident, for his fourteen years of service in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, as well as his personal commitment to College Bound Dorchester.

“Over the past fourteen years, Marty has been a tireless advocate for the working families of the Commonwealth, as displayed by his personal commitment to our community’s children and youth”, stated Mark Culliton, Chief Executive Officer of College Bound Dorchester.

Devin Simon, an 18-year old student of College Bound Dorchester, spoke to the event’s 250 attendees, which included local and state politicians, community leaders and corporate partners.  Devin said, “From the first day [at College Bound] I knew I could get into college. It was a different environment from high school.  I got my GED last summer thanks to College Bound and now I’m going to college at the same time as my peers.”

Funding from the event, totaling over $240,000, supports the 900 children, youth and adults served through College Bound’s five program areas: Early Education, Out of School Time, Adolescent Development, Alternative Education and Adult Education.
